Spa is the word for relaxation, health and beauty. It reflects holiday mood and growing band of worshippers of self preservation. Spa is not a new stop on the road to wellbeing. When we mention the word "SPA" it conjures up image of aromatherapy, essential oil, mud baths, meditation classes and exercise workout. Lately Spas seem to be popping up everywhere from office building, malls, shop lots and hotels. However can all of them be called spas?

They are basically as follows:-

Destination Spa

At a destination spa, the environment is geared towards the following spa experience

  • Healthy Eating

We generally will visit these destination spa for a few times and immerse ourselves in the spa atmosphere. This types of spa is sometimes confused with Resort Spa, which is one of the amenities at a resort. It usually comes along with gym, golf course, tennis, meditation classes and yoga exercise.

Day Spa

At day spa, people drop in for body treatments , manicures, pedicures, body massage and facial treatment. Some day spa are an extension of a hair salon and we should check out the facilities before booking for an appointment. A day spa should at least offer professionally administered massage, professional facial and body treatments operating in a serene atmosphere.

Spa Resorts

Generally they should has a staff of physicians, nutritionists and physical therapists. Most people come for a period of between three to ten days. These are spent blissfully in a bathrobe yet busily pursuing mind, body, spirit philosophy with a programme tailor made to help to de-stress, overcome trauma or whatever. In between a session in the gym, an outdoor massage and introduction to yoga or be it a gentle snooze by the pool. The usually subscribes to the notion that diet and nutrition play a vital role in mind-body harmony.
